CORROSIONFEST 2020

Saturday 14 March 2020 | Alhambra Theatre, Morecambe | 7 bands

Our first CorrosionFest took place on 14 March 2020, after nearly a year of planning between McGothicfox Promotions and the Corrosion team.

The idea had grown out of the Corrosion goth club nights at the Alhambra. We'd already started introducing live bands into the evenings and wanted to put together something bigger, with a mixture of established goth rock bands, newer acts and artists from overseas.

What we hadn't planned for was a global pandemic.

COVID restrictions were beginning to take effect across Europe, and just before the festival we lost Belgian band Your Life on Hold because of border closures. Dawn of Elysium stepped in at short notice to complete the lineup.

Fortunately, the festival went ahead, with seven bands playing. Two days later, the government advised people to avoid pubs, clubs and theatres, and on 23 March the UK entered its first national lockdown.

It would be another two years before CorrosionFest returned.

We certainly couldn't have predicted how close we'd come to not having a first festival at all.
